giving blood

Today we had a 'family activity'.
Molly, Jamie, Andrew and I all went and gave blood.
It was Andrew's first time.  He did great!

10 Facts About Blood

  1. 4.5 million Americans will a need blood transfusion each year.
  2. 43,000 pints: amount of donated blood used each day in the U.S. and Canada.
  3. Someone needs blood every two seconds.
  4. Only 37 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood – less than 10 percent do annually.**
  5. About 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood.
  6. One pint of blood can save up to three lives.
  7. Healthy adults who are at least 16 years old, and at least 110 pounds may donate about a pint of blood – the most common form of donation – every 56 days, or every two months. Females receive 53 percent of blood transfusions; males receive 47 percent.
  8. 94 percent of blood donors are registered voters.
  9. Four main red blood cell types: A, B, AB and O. Each can be positive or negative for the Rh factor. AB is the universal recipient; O negative is the universal donor of red blood cells.

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day we went to Idaho to my Mom & Dads.
 All my siblings were there.
 We cleaned,
 had a family meeting,
 and enjoyed being together.

We ended the day with our first s'mores of the season at the Johnsons.
Yummy!  I love s'mores.

Molly's birthday

A milestone birthday.

You know you are growing up when you have to work on your birthday.
Molly worked all day on Friday (her birthday) then played on Saturday.
Grandma Szabo took us out to breakfast and then Molly and Jamie spent the day at Seven Peaks.  Sunday we had her birthday dinner combined with family dinner.

Lagoon

After spending the day at Lagoon with Jarod, Andrew came home and gave me his ticket and said, "Here's something you can blog about mom, my first time at Lagoon."
No pictures but it is worth blogging about.
Being the youngest in the family has it's perks but sometimes it means you miss out on some things.

Happy Father's Day

My dad, who taught me how to live by the way he has lived his.life.

Scott, a wonderful husband and father.
At our house if you want to find something ask Mom, but if you want to know something ask Dad.

Andrew's birthday.

The best substitute for experience is being sixteen.
Author: Raymond Duncan.

Andrew's birthday was pretty low key.
He mowed lawn, played a game of basketball with Garrett (and hurt his back),
 went to the dentist,
went to lunch at Cafe Rio,
then spent the rest of the day on the couch (nursing his back), playing video games and watching TV with Dillon.
His sister game him a Celtics shirt.

Summer Fun

Molly, Jamie, and Jenny hike to the G, then have fun at the lake.
