Happy Halloween

Well almost Halloween.
We spent the morning and early afternoon at the lacrosse field.  The last game until Spring.
After that I got the garden and flower beds cleaned out before it started raining.
The pictures are some of the other activities of the day.
Scott has fond memories of making doughnuts with his mom when he was growing up in New York.  He has wanted to do this since Sam got home from his mission.  Today was the day.  His mom was over this afternoon and gave him some tips.  It was suppose to be a family activity but it ended up being a dad and mom activity (mostly dad) except for the eating.
Thanks Scott!  They were delicious!!
Molly, Jamie, and Jamie's friend Tori doing math homework. Such a fun Halloween activity.
Scott cleaning up.  He said a picture showing the husband cleaning up was more important than any other picture.
Sam, relaxing and playing the guitar.
Caleb, Sam, and Jarod being boys.
 with Andrew

Molly & Jamie went to the UVU women's basketball game.
(Austin and Tori's sisters are both on the team.)
Jamie and Austin at the game.
This is as far as we got with our pumpkins.
Until Jamie took them to a friends and they carved them.
Jamie and Andrew-scary Halloween faces.

Grapes

Monday Teri Sue gave me some grapes. She had more than she wanted. I decided last night when I got home from work I had better get them done. The last batch finished at midnight and then there was clean up. I got 9-2quart jars and another quart I made up for breakfast. I am happy to have the grape juice.
Last night while I was doing this I felt a deep appreciation for my mother. I remember many days when she came home from work and canned late into the night. I so appreciate my mother for her great example. Among other things she taught me how to cook, clean, can, and keep house. She is an example of love, service  and patience especially now as she is the care giver for my dad.
Thank-you Mom, I love you!!

The first snow of the season.

Fall Break

For Fall break we decided it was a good time to go to the St. George temple.
We left Friday afternoon after Scott got done working.
Cedar City
We met the Johnsons in Cedar City where we spent the night. All the hotels in St. George were full since there were so many things going on there.
Nothing like relaxing at the hotel after a long car ride.
That night we decided to add some excitement to our trip and take in a game of bowling.
The kids decided it should be them against the parents and the losers buy ice cream.
The kids won the first game but we decided to go for a second round. The first game was just a warm-up for us and we showed our true colors on the second game and won.
We decided we were even so no one had to buy ice cream.
We had a fun time.
Andrew couldn't resist the arcade game, the claw. He said he knew he could get the prize because the claw was in the perfect position. After the first 50 cents he had the prize in the claw but it wouldn't release it. It took a group effort to come up with 50 more cents and he got his prize. "Wanda", the witch.
Tradition carries on. Walmart and a crazy hat picture.

Scott & I even got in on the action.
St George
Saturday we got up and went to the temple.

The whole group.
Molly & Jamie in their matching dresses.

We fulfilled one of Molly's life time dreams. A picture on the Sinclair dinosaur.
There used to be one in American Fork but they got rid of it before she got a picture.
Happy Day!
Andrew and Jamie had to try it out too.

Snow Canyon
After the temple we went to Snow Canyon. Took some hikes and enjoyed the scenery.

Andrew, the explorer

Mountain Meadow Massacre Memorial
After the canyon we stopped at the Mountain Meadows Massacre Memorial.
The pictures don't really do justice to the sight. It is more the feeling that is there.

"Are we going home yet?"
